Not the Mama!

Do you guys remember this show? Watching this clip now, I realize it was a really weird show, but I used to love it. The baby has always reminded me of Estelle Getty aka Sophia Petrillo from Golden Girls. Do you see the resemblance?

And both of them have such a biting wit. Enjoy watching!

Love,

Elle Bunny
P.S. We went and looked at the house and like the main living areas but the bedrooms were too small and there was too much tile throughout the house. But I'm glad we looked--it was good to get our feet wet!

I have house fever!

So Mr Bunny and I live with our adorable cat Scout in a beautiful apartment. We are so lucky. We searched for days to find a place suitable for us in our first years of marriage, but it was Mr. Bunny who finally found it on his own-he just happened to drop by one day. It had been one of the complexes we had driven by on our way home after hours of going through apartments in the surrounding area. So he happened in one day and they had more bang for your buck than any of the other places we had looked at. Our apartment is on the third floor, we never hear any of our neighbors and on top of that we have a huge wraparound porch which overlooks the Balcones Nature Preserve. We have a wonderful open floor plan that allows me to cook and clean my kitchen while watching the television in my living room and/or looking out our huge picture window and seeing all the beautiful trees. Upon our request, before we moved in, they painted an accent wall in our dining room the exact color of my Fiestaware that I had registered for and we use most frequently, which is a beautiful Cinnebar. We never have trouble finding a parking space and if we have an issue that needs to be looked at by maintenance, it is taken care of that day. They have a great gym, great pools, and they are even open late enough that if a package gets delivered to the office I can pick it up after work. In the last few months, the only complaint we had about our apartment complex--that the gates were never closed--was fixed and they have been working ever since. We are very lucky to live where we do.
But lately I have developed house fever. It is bad. I think it started when I couldn't fit everything in my kitchen cabinets. We have a relatively large kitchen for an apartment, but we also have a lot of appliances and dishes (thanks to all of our wonderful friends and family who gave us such awesome wedding gifts). And don't get me wrong, I'd rather have that stuff and know that I will have room to spread it out later, but it is starting to drive me nuts that every time I put up a pot I have to move 15 pots and pans. We've been planning and saving for awhile, thinking that we would hopefully be able to move out into a house in 2009. We signed a second year lease in March so we will have to be here for at least another 8 months--and I should really enjoy this time, because our apartment is relatively inexpensive and we have very little responsibility. But I want a house so bad that it is now officially my obsession. I spend my free time at work looking at houses online. I watch HGTV like it is going out of style. And today, for the first time, even though it is pretty much pointless, The Bunnies are going to look at a house. We actually called a realtor and set up an appointment to go look at it. I don't have any good reason for it and I know the guy is probably going to be annoyed when he finds out that we aren't planning on buying a house for another 8 months, but I really like this house. It is cute and has good trees. Here is a picture of it and underneath is a link to a page about ithttp://www.austintexashomes.com/our_listings.htm#flora_vista_loop
If you want to join me in my obsession, please feel free to go to my favorite home search website:
It is hours of fun!Just pray that I don't fall in love with this house. For the last 6 months or so, whenever we look at a house online or pick up a flier and it doesn't quite fit our ideal, I say "it's not right because it's not our house. Our house won't be there until February 2009." Hopefully that will still be the case this afternoon.
Have a great day!

I'm not myself today

Somehow I can't quite get it together. I'm mumbling and bumbling and I'm afraid I'm not making a lot of sense to my callers. I usually try and watch shows or listen to music in between calls on a day like today--it helps calm me down. Today, I have big band music playing on my headphones. I cannot find the source of it and have closed all of my applications down and still it just keeps playing over and over and I just don't have the energy to figure it out. When I went out to lunch after an awful and akward team meeting I almost hit a guy's truck. I swear I didn't see him coming. What is wrong with me today? It is quite possible that these are the symptoms of PMS. Or maybe I'm getting old and crochety.
I don't sound as bad as Ouiser, do I?
What makes me feel better? My lunch break. I got away from work (I almost killed myself and someone else in the process, but I didn't and that's what matters), parked under a tree and washed a roast beef sandwich, ruffles and a sugar cookie down with a Diet Dr Pepper. But the most important ingredient? That's right. Thank God for mindless, comforting reading. It brings me back to my happy place. Nothing like a book you can finish in an hour and a half and have already read 8-10 times--one from which you can remember random details like one of Claudia's infamous outfits but can't remember the resolution of the story.
And it is bound to get better, right? I have to remember what my girl Scarlett said.

After all, tomorrow is another day!

Nicole and Keith had the baby!

I hope a dingo doesn't eat it! Can you imagine how small that baby is? Hopefully they won't lose track of it! Seriously though, I am very happy for both of them and their tiny little Aussie baby. Can't you just see Nicole as a Kanga with her little Roo in a pouch on her tummy? Yeah, me neither. What do you think they will name it? I'm actually betting on something semi-normal/cute. Congrats Keith and Nicole!
UPDATE: They named the baby Sunday Rose Kidman Urban. She weighed 6 lbs 7.5 oz at birth. I don't know how to feel about the name (it isn't Pilot Inspektor but it isn't exactly normal) and I am surprised she weighed so much--Bravo Nicole!

Last Night, I got sucked into the Baby Borrowers

It is a terrible show, but I couldn't stop watching it. Do you ever watch something for like an hour and a half and then suddenly think, oh my gosh it's 8:30, and what the hell am I watching?
So the premise of the show is really stupid. These 5 teenage couples are seriously thinking about having children together (as much as teenagers think seriously about anything) and enter an experiment where they move into a house together and then 5 sets of parents lend their babies to them for 3 and a half days!
What were they thinking? On the one hand, there was a nanny there that watched everything, but she didn't do or say anything unless they were seriously endangering the child. And the parents could watch everything from a house across the street. But why even bring your kid to be taken care of if you are just going to watch everything they do on a TV? I hope they paid those people a lot of money and that they all put the money in college funds for their kids, with an extra $10,000 put aside for the cost of therapy, because these children are going to be ticked off when they find out what happened.
Anyway, some of the teens were awful in the role of parent. There was a girl named Alicea, and she was cursing at the child (who was teething and fussy) and telling him "fine, you can starve to death" when he was having trouble eating. Her reason for having kids as a teen were "we want to be young parents."
I never understand what people mean when they say that. I mean, I understand not wanting to be so old that you can't get down on the floor and play with them, but to a five-year-old, is there really that much difference in having a parent who is 25 or 35? I would venture to say that they don't notice a difference and that their parent always seems old. And I would probably be a lot happier with a parent who had had time to get a degree and makes pretty good money than with a parent who was never there because they had to work two jobs just to make ends meet.
The thing that scares me about this show isn't someone like Alicea. I don't think she will be having kids anytime soon and I think she pretty much ruined her relationship with her boyfriend Cory. So the show did what it was supposed to do. Here is a clip of them fighting over getting up in the middle of night to take care of the baby.

The thing that worries me is someone like Kelly. Kelly and Austin came on the show because they think they are ready for kids. Besides her having a breakdown at the beginning when they made all the girls wear a baby bump

(Austin giggled at her and she got her feelings hurt. Get real girl--you only have to wear it for a couple of days), they actually did really well. They got a baby with a sweet disposition and it all looked pretty easy for them. They did a good job, too. But I'm worried that now they will go out and have a baby and be shocked when it is not all sweetness and light.

But, there is still time for them to decide to not have babies, because next week they will get toddlers. That should do the trick.
Anyway, I watched two hours of this junk last night, and then found myself about halfway into Celebrity Circus (AWFUL) and suddenly, I couldn't fight the urge to find the remote and change it to HGTV before I threw up all over the place. NBC, what the hell are you doing? I'm watching it, but it is like a train wreck. But I guess all that matters to them is that I'm watching it.
I pray that I don't get sucked back into the bad baby borrowers vortex again next week, but chances are I will.

Elle Bunny

Take on Me!!!

I just had to share this amazing video with you. My best friend Meredith works at a very nice shoe store in the Domain and during their down-time, she and her co-workers Thomas and Mary decided to create this wonderful video.

I think they have a bright future in show business.

I am lucky enough to have the funniest best friend in the whole world.

Enjoy!

Love,

Elle Bunny

Stealing Magnolias

I just thought I would share this with everyone since it made me laugh. If you haven't guessed from the name of my blog, this just so happens to my favorite movie, and it is interesting to see it with a new twist.
Have a great day!
