My weekend in a nutshell

So my workplace has been going through some changes lately and I don't really like them. I still love the organization, but I knew it was bad when my bosses at work started to bother me more than the people on the phone. So I applied for a job in another part of the organization (same building). And I already got an interview for this Friday! Isn't that exciting?

I found this out on Friday and immediately felt like I had to go out and buy a new shirt for the interview (to wear with my awesome suit) but I still have not bought anything. But do you ever notice how something like an interview or a reunion or a wedding can make you feel like you have to get all this stuff done that you've been putting off for weeks? Now I feel like I really need to get my nails done and my eyebrows waxed and while I'm at it, I should really get my toes done. And I am kicking myself for making my hair appointment for the Monday afterwards (of course, how could I have known three months ago?).

I worked this Saturday because I had been off on Monday to recover from the George Michael goodness. And might I say, crazy people call on Saturdays. This lady kept calling over and over again who wants to be in a commercial for our organization, and she had gotten into two fights with people earlier in the day and we were instructed to tell her "I'm sorry but we have exhausted all of our resources and I'm going to have to disconnect now". She called twice and told me she wanted to apologize to my supervisor for yelling at her. Then she tells me on the second call that it is her birthday. How sad is it that the best thing she had to do was call us 15 times on her birthday? People are weird (and sad). I used to work a different shift where I always worked on Saturday and the people used to drive me nuts, but for a one time shift, it was kind of nice change. I found that I had missed the crazies (but not too much).

Later that night, we went to see The Dark Knight which was really amazing. Heath Ledger is unbelievable. I already want to see it again, and I heard it is really awesome in Imax. While we were waiting in line, we ran into my friend Justin and his family. It was good to see them.

I have also discovered that I am becoming one of those horrible obsessed people when it comes to Twilight. I always thought the Harry Potter people were kind of silly-little did I know. I called my friend Rachel and told her she had to read it and wouldn't stop talking about it. I make my husband watch all the stuff online and I am lucky that he isn't ready to throw me off our balcony because it is what I talk about 60% of the time. During my spare time at work, pretty much all I do is watch behind the scenes footage from the movie and read stuff on all the Twilighter websites. I started bouncing up and down in my seat when the preview for it came on when we were at Dark Knight-yes, I know, I am a twelve year old at heart. And I apologize to everyone I know who is probably ready to hit me at this point. But it is an addiction.

So on Sunday, Mr Bunny and I hung out all morning (and a little of the afternoon) in our pjs before going to my parents for a cookout. I love my family. They are so much fun to be around. And I am so excited for my sister whose last day of work was Friday since she is going back to school to get her masters in education and become a History teacher. I am so proud of her and glad that she gets a little bit of time off before she goes back to school.

Stephenie Meyer, Friday's Fun Fearless Female

Stephenie Meyer is my shero for four reasonsTwilight, New Moon, Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn

(which I haven't read yet, of course, but have no doubt will be awesome). I am in the process of trying to read The Host to occupy my time until Breaking Dawn comes out (2 weeks!) but it is hard for me to get into since I'm not a big science fiction person.
Stephenie is a Mormon housewife who lives in Arizona with her husband Pancho (whose real name is Christian--I'd like to hear the long story that lead to that nickname) and her three sons. She graduated from Brigham Young. She wrote Twilight after having a dream in which she saw a girl sitting in a meadow with a sparkling vampire. Can you believe that is what a Mormon housewife dreams about?
She is a great writer and I would love to sit down to lunch with her. Here is a video of her talking about Breaking Dawn.


Doesn't she seem nice? So Stephenie is Friday's Fun Fearless Female because she managed to write several awesome books despite the fact that she three little boys running around her house.

What's Happening, Hot Stuff?

Today it is time to pay tribute to one of the greatest movies ever. Sixteen Candles. Molly Ringwald at her best, and most importantly, JAKE RYAN. Swoon. He is a good representation of every crush I ever had. Played by Michael Shoeffling, who went away after the only other movie I have ever seen him in, Wild Hearts Can't Be Broken (for some reason I loved that movie as a kid). My life is most definitely a John Hughes movie (with a little bit of Steel Magnolias thrown in) and out of all the characters Molly played, this was the one I related to most. Although I didn't find my Jake Ryan until I was in college. Here is what Wikipedia had to say about Michael Schoeffling's career.

"Schoeffling is best known for his role as Jake Ryan in Sixteen Candles, serving as a legendary lust object amongst generations of fans. On Valentine's Day of 2004 a full twenty years after the film's American premiere, the Washington Post ran an article entitled "Real Men Can't Hold a Match to Jake Ryan of Sixteen Candles", which celebrated Michael, and his character Jake's enduring popularity.[3]

Looking for some education, made my way into the night

This weekend, I went with my sister Meredith, our friend Elena, and her sister in law Julie to go see George Michael. He was amazing. Without a doubt the best live show I have ever seen. And it was so much fun!

He put on a show--he full out danced, he never hit a bad note, and he sang for like 2 and a half hours. It was amazing. I have always loved George, and it made me kind of sad, because he seemed kind of surprised that there were so many people there and that we all still care about him in America. Apparantly this is his first time touring America and Canada in 17 years. I have to say that while I watching him sing Faith, I was thinking, Holy Crap, I remember being like 5 years old and watching this video. And now I'm watching him sing it live and it is even better. I had a great time at the show and it seemed like everybody did. He came out for two encores--during the first one he sang A Different Corner and Careless Whisper, and during the second encore he sang Freedom which was amazing. Meredith said it best when she said that at times we felt we were at a club, and at other times it felt like we were at a European Soccer game.
I had a lot of fun with the people I went to the concert with--it is always very important to have nice, non-fussy people to go to a concert with, who won't sit in the corner and smirk while the rest of you are dancing around and singing loudly. Have you ever gone to a concert with somebody in a bad mood? No fun. But we had a great time-I love my sissy and always have so much fun with her!!Don't we look like we are siamese twins attached at the head in this picture?

Top 5 Favorite Parts of the Concert:

#5 During the concert, when George sang "Outside" he danced around in a cop outfit. Enough said.
#4 He sang "Roxanne" by the Police and it was so flawless. His voice is amazing.
#3 When he sang his song "Amazing" which he wrote about his partner Kenny. He made this sweet dedication to Kenny and had us all clap for him. Here is a picture of Kenny and George.

#2 Careless whisper. Such an amazing song and he still sings it with so much feeling after all these years #1 Freedom--everybody was jumping up and down and singing-at the point in which he sings "shake your ass" he pulled back his jacket and shook his ass in a way that only George Michael could get away with. Here is the awesome video for Freedom that combines two of the best things from the Early 90's-George Michael and glamorous Supermodels.

Christian the Lion

This is so sweet! Don't you just love animals?!
These two raised Christian until he got too big for them to take care of. They released him into the wild and Christian joined a Pride of lions. A year later they reunited with him. This is the footage.

Sandra Rinomato is the host of "Property Virgins," my favorite show on HGTV. Here is a clip.

Sandra is a saucy Canadian and she is always saying things like "What typical property virgins." She can look at a house, and knows immediately how much it costs. She is my new favorite host on HGTV and she is Friday's Fun Fearless Female this week.
