Don't you just love music? I love buying new music and listening to it over and over until I know every word. I love listening to old song that bring back good memories. I love listening to music in general. Here are some of the songs that are getting a lot of play on my iPod right now.
1) "Old Enough" by The Raconteurs featuring Ricky Skaggs and Ashley Monroe.
Love this. Jack White is such a weirdo but I totally love him. I love that he uses his status as a "rock star" to bring attention to bluegrass and country music and great musicians like Ricky Skaggs and Loretta Lynn. I'm sure there are some people who have been introduced to these wonderful genres because of him and that's an awesome thing.
2) "Fans" by Kings of Leon

They are just amazing. One of my favorite bands. I must see them play soon. Nothing like a family band. This is one of my favorite songs by them.
3) "King of the Rodeo" by Kings of Leon

I love this song so much it hurts. If you like it as much as I do, you should check out the actual music video here. It's made of awesome, but unfortunately, it's not embeddable.
4) "Farewell" by Rosie Thomas

This song kills me. So beautiful and heartbreaking. Her voice has so much depth. Lovely.

5) "Blue Ridge Mountains" by Fleet Foxes

My happy music. So good. The harmonies are amazing and the song just sounds timeless; it kind of reminds me of Bread or the Allman Bros. Listen to this whole video if you have time, but if not, skip to 2:34 to listen to the song.
6) "Jackie Wilson Said" by Van Morrison

More happy music. It just doesn't get much better than Van Morrison. By far the best music in the world to dance to.

Ashley Greene is Friday's Fun Fearless Female

I love Ashley Greene the most out of any the girls in the cast of Twilight. Why, you ask? Because she is sweet and very enthusiastic. She is an absolutely gorgeous girl and she's friends with the whole cast. She seems like a perfect friend; in fact, when you get right down to it, I like Ashley because she's so much like Alice. And who doesn't love Alice?
Much as I love Ashley, I don't know that I would have classified her as "fearless" last week. Yes, she will be going on the Twilight Cruise, which certainly shows a certain amount of gusto. But she seems sweet, safe, nice. But Ashley has proven me wrong. She is fearless...when it comes to fashion.

Oh, Ashley. Leather hot pants? Maybe this is a fashion risk you shouldn't have attempted. It's hot outside. You could get sweaty. This look is just all kinds of wrong if you ask me. It makes a very thin, beautiful girl look boxy and larger than she is. And Ashley was so brave, she wore this outfit on national television. She went on MTV's "It's On with Alexa Chung". In these shorts. Check it out.

Bless her heart. I love her. Just not in those shorts.

Congratulations, Ashley; but next time, how about taking on a risky role rather than an outfit like that.

These are a few of my favorite things

• The hydrangea on my dining room table. It reminds me of my wedding, which was the best day of my life.


• The deck my husband (and my Daddy and brother-in-law) have worked very hard on. It is absolutely beautiful and will be perfect for barbecues throughout the rest of the summer.
• The book that is getting me through the day at work. God bless J. K. Rowling.
• The clear plastic ball filled with pink glitter that I won at work. It sits on my desk. It is a constant source of entertainment, especially during difficult calls. When I shake it all up and the glitter clouds the surface, it looks like the globe Glenda the Good Witch comes in to visit Oz.
• Smarties. The best candy ever!
• When the sunlight breaks through a canopy of tree limbs. The feeling when you're right under that slat of sunlight is my favorite sensation in the world.
• Last Sunday, I got everything done that I needed to and still had plenty of time left over to spend with my two favorite beings, Mr. Bunny and Strut. It was one of those wonderful summer days that seemed to go on forever.
• Thursdays--I love anticipation. Looking forward to the weekend is sometimes better than actually getting there.

Memories, like the corner of my mind...

I've been thinking a lot lately about how Mr. Bunny and I met. And the more I think about it, the more overwhelmed I become by the idea that we could have lived our whole lives and never even run into each other. It makes me really sad to think about, because I'm so happy with my life. But without Mr. Bunny, I'm not sure what I'd be doing now. I know my life would be completely different. When you think about it, everyday we make decisions that could effect the rest of our entire lives. But as a silly 19-year-old girl, there was no way I could have predicted what fate had in store for me the night of January 2, 2004.
I heard about Mr. Bunny before I ever met him. I'm pretty sure I was 16 or 17 the first time his name came up. One of my closest friends from high school, Justin, had an obnoxious, yet oddly endearing older brother named Chris. Justin's family lived in Washington state until he was 15. Chris had several good friends from Washington who would come down to visit Austin and stay with Justin's family. I met them all at some point or another.
There's Rickey, Justin's sweet, good-natured cousin who loves Jesus candles. There's Matt, the youngest and the wittiest, with rumored Canadian roots. I met Todd at Chris's wedding--he's the gentle giant, a hippie who became a dad just after high school. His love for his son is apparent in everything he does. I met Josh right after he lost his mom to breast cancer; he is one of the funniest people I've ever met, and used his humor to mask the sadness. Then there's Bill*, a Marine, one of the smartest people I know--I had quite a crush on him at 16. Little did I know he was gay (I didn't find that out until Mr. Bunny told me three years later).

I met all of them--except for Mr. Bunny. But his name came up over and over. These boys were all about 4 or 5 years older than me and my friends, and as teenagers, we were in awe of them. We listened to their stories of high school hi-jinx with intense interest. I remember hearing about my future husband and the parties he hosted in high school. I heard about the quirkiness of my mother-in-law long before I got to see it with my own eyes. Josh once told me that Mr. Bunny got him a job at the factory where he had his summer job. Josh couldn't force himself to come back after lunch the first day. This was in part because he found out that Chris had been diagnosed with leukemia (Today Chris is healthy as a horse and still stubborn as a mule). But Josh also told me that the half day of work at that factory was the hardest job he ever had. Mr. Bunny worked there for two whole months. Now that I know Mr. Bunny, I'm not surprised-he's a very hard worker.
I always figured I would meet Mr. Bunny eventually, and we came close to meeting each other nine months before we ended up crossing paths. When Chris (Justin's brother) got married, Mr. Bunny was this close to coming down for the wedding. Something came up, and he wasn't able to make it. The wedding took place a month before I graduated from high school-when I think about how different things might have been if he had come to visit then, it scares me. I know that we wouldn't have started dating. As high school girls we were seen as off limits (at least we were then).

Looking back, I'm sure of the fact that I wasn't ready to meet him yet. I was too young, too naive, and had little experience with matters of the heart. I remember being impatient, and wondering when I was going to find somebody to love. But I don't think I could have fully appreciated the wonderfulness that is Mr. Bunny that April. I was 18 at the time and I met him right after turning 19, which may seem to make little difference, but that year had a big impact on me. I went off to college, had some silly dalliances with boys, and I learned a lot about myself. At 18, I was very immature, and I'm pretty sure I would have annoyed him.
Mushy as it sounds, I truly believe that love has a way of finding our hearts when we are ready for it (and in my case, when I least expected it).

If you are, I could make it a multi-part serial, a smaller Elle Bunny version of Black Heels and Tractor Wheels. Bonus points if someone could help me figure out what to name it. New Moon Monday: A little bit of this, a little bit of that.

There's not much to report today. I'm thinking that this may be my last New Moon Monday for awhile-after this I will be doing Twilight posts more intermittently for awhile until we get closer to New Moon's premiere.
Here is a video taken by one of the extras on the set of The Runaways. Towards the end you can see Kristen rock out as Joan Jett.

Impressive, although I wish we could have heard her sing. I admire her for taking on this role so completely-she's learned how to play the guitar, and she's gotten a lot of crap about her hair the whole time. But I guess that is what being an actor is. She certainly looks the part; and she looks tall despite being teeny-tiny. One thing she doesn't look-pregnant. Check out this article from the Wall Street Journal on Harry Potter and Rival Teen Franchise (and the scary picture they had with it). It compares Twilight and my new obsession, Harry Potter, which is something I hate. But it is focusing on how the success of Twilight is forcing Harry Potter to focus more on the romance to ensure that the teenage girls will be satisfied. Apparently, now that Twilight was successful, they are finally taking teenage girls seriously as an audience that goes to see movies multiple times and taking into account that movies should be made for them. While this is true, I think they would be wise to remember that there were also lots of adult women (and men for that matter) that went to see Twilight multiple times. The same has been true for all of the Harry Potter movies and will surely be the case with the one coming out on Wednesday. But it's never a bad thing to bring romance onto the screen and I can't wait to see this movie. I think the only way they could make these movies do better at the box office is by bringing Cedric Diggory back from the dead. Interesting article, though.

I need to see Bruno stat. Sacha Baron Cohen is my own personal brand of comedy heroin. Here are some pics of Rob in a suit on the Remember Me set in NYC. And here's Pierce Brosnan (who plays Rob's dad) looking dapper in a suit on set. Perfect casting. When I was seven, we went to California on vacation for Thanksgiving. We went to a restaurant called Alice's in Santa Monica and Pierce Brosnan was there. My mom was quite impressed. I didn't know who he was because, well, I was seven and he wasn't James Bond yet. But I digress; the point is, Pierce is a beautiful man, and I once ate a meal in the same room as that man. And now he's playing Rob's dad. This makes me happy (I realize that it also makes me pathetic).

According to E!'s Mark Malkin, Rob will be gracing the cover of Vanity Fair sometime in the near future. Can't wait for that one!
Don't forget to check out the New Moon panel at Comic Con on Thursday, July 23rd at 1:45 PM Pacific Time. It should be online and if last year's Twilight panel tells us anything it will be full of screaming girls. Rob and Kristen are rumored to be attending, although I won't believe it until I see them there. Have we forgotten this?
Based on last years panel I would have bet money that Rob would have given up his Van Morrison collection before attending this thing again. If he shows up, Summit better buy him a boat And if KStew attends, they should buy her an island, Carlisle-style (remember Isle Esme?). She's the one who has to deal with all the fan hate and pregnancy rumors.

Emma Watson is Friday's Fun Fearless Female!

As I admitted yesterday, I'm late to the Harry Potter book phenomenon. But I've always loved the movies. And Emma Watson, aka Hermione, has always been my favorite. Something about that character has always reminded me of myself at that age. Anyway, I love Emma Watson. She is a good example of a child star who has grown up to be normal. In fact all of the Harry Potter kids are fairly down to earth compared with winners like Lindsay Lohan.

Just take a look at this interview she did with David Letterman:

So poised! And she totally owned David Letterman in that interview. If you didn't have a chance to watch, she talks about her plans to attend college in the states. She always has intelligent, witty things to say and you just can't help but like her.
Besides being level-headed, she's also quite beautiful and classy. She's a fave of Karl Lagerfield, and she always looks fashion forward without looking too trendy.

Just look at these pictures from her with the cast at the recent rainy world premiere of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.The amount of awesome in this picture is killing me. I adore JK Rowling. And I love Emma's dress. Of course, right now she's getting a lot of attention for a wardrobe malfunction at the event. If you haven't seen the picture yet, here it is.Well, at least she's wearing underwear. This alone puts her heads and shoulders above most Hollywood starlets.
I can't wait for the next movie. I'm sure I won't be anywhere near starting that book in the series, but I always enjoy the movies anyway.
