Alexis Cohen is Friday's Fun Fearless Female

ALEXIS COHEN Pictures, Images and Photos

If you don't recognize the name, let me refresh your memory:
Unfortunately Alexis, who was 25 was struck by a car and killed ‎earlier this week in Seaside Heights, New Jersey. She will always be remembered for her love of glitter and her ability to put someone in their place. She was truly fearless, as she wasn't even intimidated by Simon Cowell. Though fear might have come in handy when it came to avoiding that car.
But let us not dwell on the way her life ended. Let's remember Alexis at her best. She did give us one of the most inspirational speeches in Idol history. Check this out:
RIP Alexis.
I'm going to cut down the blogging during August--I will most likely be blogging 1-2 times per week. Keep checking in with me and expect the blogging to gear back up to 5 times a week in September.
Have a great weekend!

Mock the Headlines...

Well...the entertainment headlines. Because let's face it, that's my area of expertise. You could probably fit what I know about Iran in a dwarf's coffee cup. A Flock of Seagulls, the band who gave us the jewel that is "I Ran"--that's a different story. Did you know that the lead singer used to be a hairdresser? But I digress. Let's get down to business.
Madonna pens article for Israeli daily
Doesn't Israel already have enough on it's plate? Do we really have to send this bomb from Detroit their way? Madonna is always entertaining, but throughout the last 10 years, I've only been entertained by her because she makes a fool of herself by speaking about the Kabbalah in a faux British accent. Get over yourself. Oh, and Iggy Pop called. He wants his scary arms back.
Jon Gosselin gets back to his kids
Kids ask to go live with the Octomom.
This Just In: Grey's Anatomy Finally Buries George O'Malley
When can we bury this show? By far the worst thing on television. The real question is why I continue to torture myself by forcing myself to watch it. It's like a train wreck. This just in: I'm a glutton for punishment.
The list of celebrities look-a-likes includes Jon Gosselin, Clay Aiken, Brad Garrett and Nick Jonas. I've got a great idea-lets add David Crosby and Michael Lohan to the list and mix all of the sperm together. You will most likely end up with a very tall douchey child with distinct eyebrows, a broom-like moustache, and a cell phone on his belt. He will also have an affinity for Ed Hardy and Liza Minelli.
Have a great day!

Rachelle LaFevre out, Bryce Dallas Howard in? UPDATED

The Twilight Zone. We've officially entered it. Summit Entertainment announced today that Bryce Dallas Howard will take over the role of “Victoria” in the studio’s upcoming production of THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE. Actress, Rachelle Lefevre, who portrayed the character in TWILIGHT as well as the upcoming release of THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON, will not continue in the role due to scheduling conflicts with another commitment the actor has made. THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE will start filming in Vancouver this coming August.
THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE, the third film in the studio’s TWILIGHT film franchise based on Stephenie Meyer’s blockbuster book series, will be directed by David Slade from a screenplay written by Melissa Rosenberg. The film will be released theatrically in North America on Wednesday, June 30, 2010.
“We are incredibly happy that Bryce has agreed to come into the franchise,” said Erik Feig, Summit’s President of Worldwide Production and Acquisitions. “Rachelle brought “Victoria” to great screen life and Bryce will bring a new dimension to the character. The franchise is lucky to have such a talented actress as Bryce coming in to fill the role.”
Howard most recently starred in TERMINATOR SALVATION as Kate Connor and has been seen in SPIDER-MAN 3, LADY IN THE WATER, and THE VILLAGE. She was nominated for a Golden Globe for her leading performance as an actress in the HBO film AS YOU LIKE IT.
In THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE, Bella once again finds herself surrounded by danger as Seattle is ravaged by a string of mysterious killings and a malicious vampire continues her quest for revenge. In the midst of it all, she is forced to choose between her love for Edward and her friendship with Jacob — knowing that her decision has the potential to ignite the ageless struggle between vampire and werewolf. With her graduation quickly approaching, Bella is confronted with the most important decision of her life.

I LOVED Rachelle. I thought she was one of the best parts of Twilight. So why would she leave right before she gets her big showdown, the most screen time? What on earth could be so important that she would leave her biggest meal ticket?

I smell conspiracy. I hate Summit Productions and this has their grimy, greedy fingerprints all over it. I bet that they put out feelers, got some interest from Bryce, and dumped Rachelle on her ass when they saw the opportunity for a "big name".
I will miss you Rachelle.
But I will give you a chance, Bryce. It's not your fault that Suckmit is so awful. But you're going to have to bring it. You're going to have to up the quotient of badass to go from this:

to this:

But I believe you can do it. You might just need to work on your growls. I'm not sure they are what you would consider "lady-like".

Have a good day everyone!
Love,

Elle Bunny

P.S. As I thought, Rachelle has come out with this statement:

“I was stunned by Summit [Entertainment]’s decision to recast the role of Victoria for Eclipse,” Rachelle said in a statement to Access Hollywood. “I was fully committed to the Twilight saga, and to the portrayal of Victoria. I turned down several other film opportunities and, in accordance with my contractual rights, accepted only roles that would involve very short shooting schedules. My commitment to Barney’s Version is only ten days. Summit picked up my option for Eclipse. Although the production schedule for Eclipse is over three months long, Summit said they had a conflict during those ten days and would not accommodate me. Given the length of filming for Eclipse, never did I fathom I would lose the role over a 10 day overlap. I was happy with my contract with Summit and was fully prepared to continue to honor it. Summit chose simply to recast the part.”
The 30-year-old
actress continued, “I am greatly saddened that I will not get to complete my portrayal of Victoria for the Twilight audience. This is a story, a theatrical journey and a character that I truly love and about which I am very passionate. I will be forever grateful to the fan support and loyalty I’ve received since being cast for this role, and I am hurt deeply by Summit’s surprising decision to move on without me. I wish the cast and crew of Eclipse only the very best.”

Anyone up for a letter writing campaign? I'd jump on that train.

YouTubesday: A Very Potter Musical

This just makes me happier than a tornado in a trailer park. I love me some Harry Potter and I love musicals. This must have taken a lot of rehearsal hours, but it was well worth it. Check it out:

There's tons more where that came from so click on the video if you want to check the rest out. And now, if you haven't seen this wedding video yet, check it out:

My sister is getting married in December, and this video made us both laugh and then cry. And I think she should make us all learn a dance to perform at some point during her wedding. It's only fair-I made her read a poem at my wedding.
Meredith--for your consideration:

I think we could make it work.
Have a great day!

Just another New Moon Monday

My heart is full. I have now seen the footage from Comic-Con and even the 2 previews that were shared. Here are a few of my favorite videos from the panel discussion--you can go into YouTube and watch the whole conference at that user's page.

I love Ashley Greene so much. She just radiates Alice-ness. And Chris Weitz is just made of awesome. I wish they would have him direct Breaking Dawn. Here's a piece of trivia for you: Lupita Tovar , who starred in the original Spanish-language version of Dracula is Chris Weitz's grandmother. He was destined to direct one of these movies.

Here are the two previews that were shown from the movie (protect your ears: major screaming going on here):

Man, they are working those abs for all they are worth, huh? While the dialogue was cheesy in parts, the majority of it was directly from the book, so it's completely understandable. I kind of loved the bike scene and I'm THRILLED with the way that Edward's presence is portrayed. I never thought it would look that good. I'm hoping that the scene with Alice and Bella in the Porsche looks less rushed and cartoonish in the context of the movie. Overall, I'm thrilled with the overall look of this movie when compared with the first one.

Any thoughts? I can't wait for November!

Have a great day!

Elle Bunny

Chelsea Handler is Friday's Fun Fearless Female

How could you not love a woman who named her second book Are You There, Vodka? It's Me, Chelsea (her first book is her memoir, titled My Horizontal Life: A Collection of One-Night Stands ...). Chelsea's certainly not afraid to go there. She hosts a nightly show on E! called Chelsea Lately and is regularly the funniest person on there (sometimes Chuy edges her out). If you haven't ever seen the show, here is a mere sampling of the humor to be found there:

She is too funny. Chelsea is 35 and grew up in New Jersey. She is the youngest in a Jewish family with 6 children. Her mother was Mormon. She has said that she felt like an outsider growing up, which can often lead to humor and obviously did in Chelsea's case.
People started to notice Chelsea when she appeared on Girls Behaving Badly. She was clearly the stand out star on that show and seemed to have no fear when it came to making a fool out of herself.
Chelsea is dating Ted Harbert, who oversees E! television. Her best friend is Jenny McCarthy. But even though she's got friends in high places, she's still keeping it real.
Let's here it for Chelsea Handler, Friday's Fun Fearless Female!
Have a great weekend!

This Frustrated Fan-Girl wants the Twilight Mafia to work it's magic!!!

I'm impatient. I don't understand why G4 won't just set up a video camera, tape it all, and sell the footage to everyone. If this is Suckmit at work, I think I might right an angry letter. There's some other stuff, but here are the main videos I've got so far.

This is from the press conference--after which they had a panel which included Ashley Greene and Chris Weitz (who looked very dapper). After that, I'm told that the cast went to screenings of Twilight. I'm really tempted to buy tix to Comic-Con for next year, but knowing my luck, the Twilight cast wouldn't sign up to come.
Anyway, since there's not much to report right now, I will provide you with some links. Here is an Access Hollywood Video; here is the G4 live blog from the panel; finally I will link you to Ted Casablanca's Twitter-he's at Comic-Con, and he will have loads of updates with juicy info.
Have a great day!

Last Saturday, I watched Little Ashes

Unfortunately, they postponed bringing Little Ashes to my local theatre so I broke down and watched it on the interwebs. If you are interested in checking it out, let me know and I will send you the link. It honestly took me awhile to figure out how I felt about it and Rob Pattinson's performance. Here is what I took away from it.
1) It is a beautiful movie. The cinematography is amazing and for a low-budget indie I'm surprised to find it looks so pretty and glossy.
2) Javier Beltran is going places. He played Frederico Garcia Lorca with such depth you truly believed he was a poet. His was a hard role to play and he did it beautifully. He broke my heart at the end.
3) Rob is a good actor who is on his way to being great. His performance in this movie was excellent and this is the first time I watched one of his movies and saw his potential to become a great actor. Have you ever gone back and watched one of the first movies by a well-known actor? Leonardo Dicaprio in This Boy's Life comes to mind. There is an eagerness, a hunger to learn and be great that exists in Leo in that movie. It took time for him to fully hone his skills, but there is also something really beautiful and raw about that performance, which was one of his first movies. Sometimes you can see the wheels turning in his head, but he's really good and you can tell he's going to be great.
That is how I felt watching Rob in this movie. His was definitely the hardest role to play--Salvador Dali is such a caricature, such a part of the world-wide lexicon. Dali once created a lobster telephone and called it art. It's a hard role to play. But he couldn't just play the caricature that Dali would become--he had to show Dali's journey to becoming that, and the motivations behind it. Rob did that beautifully. I felt proud of him. Mind you, there were definitely times when I laughed out loud at how ridiculous he looked/acted. But I think you were kind of supposed to feel that way. And I must say, the physical transformation was well done; it's hard to believe that this is the same boy who played Cedric Diggory.
And his last scene was sensational and utterly heartbreaking. That is where he becomes the Dali we came to know.
4) This movie had the potential to be great-but the script and the production/director were lacking. The movie was very poorly paced; I was quite bored at times, while at others I found myself having to rewind to catch everything. They could have gone in there and cut out plenty of scenes. I felt they didn't know which story they wanted to tell. At times it felt like a historical drama; at other times they seemed to want it to be a romantic drama. A movie can be both, but it would take a stronger set of ideas. This movie had the potential to be a Spanish Brokeback Mountain which is the direction I think they should have gone in.
5) The movie is really weird. Which is to be expected when you're talking about an art house film made on a small budget about Salvador Dali. Throw in a homosexual relationship in a repressive historical Spain and you have some awkward scenes. Some of it is really hard to watch. But the majority of it is really beautiful. This scene gives me chills.
6) I'm now kind of obsessed with the people that serve as the subjects of this movie. I've watched two documentaries on Dali on YouTube and read several of Lorca's poems. They were fascinating artists with fascinating lives. It's a shame that this movie didn't do a better job of bringing those lives to light. But there is something really beautiful about an imperfect movie. And there are some scenes in this movie that are so magnificently beautiful that you could almost excuse the less complelling ones.
Would I recommend seeing it? I'm not sure. You might enjoy it, you might not. I would give the acting a B-, the subject matter an A+, and the overall movie a C-. If you're open to the completely weird factor and not afraid of some awkward scenes, then I think it's worth watching.
Have a great day!
Don't forget to watch the footage from Comic-Con's New Moon panel tomorrow; word is, Rob Pattinson and Kristen Stewart should be showing up. I hope they remember their ear plugs.

Listen to This: My Current Playlist

Don't you just love music? I love buying new music and listening to it over and over until I know every word. I love listening to old song that bring back good memories. I love listening to music in general. Here are some of the songs that are getting a lot of play on my iPod right now.
1) "Old Enough" by The Raconteurs featuring Ricky Skaggs and Ashley Monroe.
Love this. Jack White is such a weirdo but I totally love him. I love that he uses his status as a "rock star" to bring attention to bluegrass and country music and great musicians like Ricky Skaggs and Loretta Lynn. I'm sure there are some people who have been introduced to these wonderful genres because of him and that's an awesome thing.
2) "Fans" by Kings of Leon

They are just amazing. One of my favorite bands. I must see them play soon. Nothing like a family band. This is one of my favorite songs by them.
3) "King of the Rodeo" by Kings of Leon

I love this song so much it hurts. If you like it as much as I do, you should check out the actual music video
here. It's made of awesome, but unfortunately, it's not embeddable.
4) "Farewell" by Rosie Thomas

This song kills me. So beautiful and heartbreaking. Her voice has so much depth. Lovely.
5) "Blue Ridge Mountains" by Fleet Foxes

My happy music. So good. The harmonies are amazing and the song just sounds timeless; it kind of reminds me of Bread or the Allman Bros. Listen to this whole video if you have time, but if not, skip to 2:34 to listen to the song.
6) "Jackie Wilson Said" by Van Morrison

More happy music. It just doesn't get much better than Van Morrison. By far the best music in the world to dance to.
What are you listening to right now? I love discovering new music, and there's no better way to discover a new artist than a recommendation from a friend or blog reader.
Have a great day!

Ashley Greene is Friday's Fun Fearless Female

I love Ashley Greene the most out of any the girls in the cast of Twilight. Why, you ask? Because she is sweet and very enthusiastic. She is an absolutely gorgeous girl and she's friends with the whole cast. She seems like a perfect friend; in fact, when you get right down to it, I like Ashley because she's so much like Alice. And who doesn't love Alice?
Much as I love Ashley, I don't know that I would have classified her as "fearless" last week. Yes, she will be going on the
Twilight Cruise, which certainly shows a certain amount of gusto. But she seems sweet, safe, nice. But Ashley has proven me wrong. She is fearless...when it comes to fashion.

Oh, Ashley. Leather hot pants? Maybe this is a fashion risk you shouldn't have attempted. It's hot outside. You could get sweaty. This look is just all kinds of wrong if you ask me. It makes a very thin, beautiful girl look boxy and larger than she is. And Ashley was so brave, she wore this outfit on national television. She went on MTV's "It's On with Alexa Chung". In these shorts. Check it out.

Bless her heart. I love her. Just not in those shorts.

Congratulations, Ashley; but next time, how about taking on a risky role rather than an outfit like that.

Have a great weekend!

These are a few of my favorite things

  • The hydrangea on my dining room table. It reminds me of my wedding, which was the best day of my life.

  • The deck my husband (and my Daddy and brother-in-law) have worked very hard on. It is absolutely beautiful and will be perfect for barbecues throughout the rest of the summer.
  • The book that is getting me through the day at work. God bless J. K. Rowling.
  • The clear plastic ball filled with pink glitter that I won at work. It sits on my desk. It is a constant source of entertainment, especially during difficult calls. When I shake it all up and the glitter clouds the surface, it looks like the globe Glenda the Good Witch comes in to visit Oz.
  • Smarties. The best candy ever!
  • When the sunlight breaks through a canopy of tree limbs. The feeling when you're right under that slat of sunlight is my favorite sensation in the world.
  • Last Sunday, I got everything done that I needed to and still had plenty of time left over to spend with my two favorite beings, Mr. Bunny and Strut. It was one of those wonderful summer days that seemed to go on forever.
  • Thursdays--I love anticipation. Looking forward to the weekend is sometimes better than actually getting there.

What are your favorite things?

Memories, like the corner of my mind...

I've been thinking a lot lately about how Mr. Bunny and I met. And the more I think about it, the more overwhelmed I become by the idea that we could have lived our whole lives and never even run into each other. It makes me really sad to think about, because I'm so happy with my life. But without Mr. Bunny, I'm not sure what I'd be doing now. I know my life would be completely different. When you think about it, everyday we make decisions that could effect the rest of our entire lives. But as a silly 19-year-old girl, there was no way I could have predicted what fate had in store for me the night of January 2, 2004.
I heard about Mr. Bunny before I ever met him. I'm pretty sure I was 16 or 17 the first time his name came up. One of my closest friends from high school, Justin, had an obnoxious, yet oddly endearing older brother named Chris. Justin's family lived in Washington state until he was 15. Chris had several good friends from Washington who would come down to visit Austin and stay with Justin's family. I met them all at some point or another.
There's Rickey, Justin's sweet, good-natured cousin who loves Jesus candles. There's Matt, the youngest and the wittiest, with rumored Canadian roots. I met Todd at Chris's wedding--he's the gentle giant, a hippie who became a dad just after high school. His love for his son is apparent in everything he does. I met Josh right after he lost his mom to breast cancer; he is one of the funniest people I've ever met, and used his humor to mask the sadness. Then there's Bill*, a Marine, one of the smartest people I know--I had quite a crush on him at 16. Little did I know he was gay (I didn't find that out until Mr. Bunny told me three years later).
I met all of them--except for Mr. Bunny. But his name came up over and over. These boys were all about 4 or 5 years older than me and my friends, and as teenagers, we were in awe of them. We listened to their stories of high school hi-jinx with intense interest. I remember hearing about my future husband and the parties he hosted in high school. I heard about the quirkiness of my mother-in-law long before I got to see it with my own eyes. Josh once told me that Mr. Bunny got him a job at the factory where he had his summer job. Josh couldn't force himself to come back after lunch the first day. This was in part because he found out that Chris had been diagnosed with leukemia (Today Chris is healthy as a horse and still stubborn as a mule). But Josh also told me that the half day of work at that factory was the hardest job he ever had. Mr. Bunny worked there for two whole months. Now that I know Mr. Bunny, I'm not surprised-he's a very hard worker.
I always figured I would meet Mr. Bunny eventually, and we came close to meeting each other nine months before we ended up crossing paths. When Chris (Justin's brother) got married, Mr. Bunny was this close to coming down for the wedding. Something came up, and he wasn't able to make it. The wedding took place a month before I graduated from high school-when I think about how different things might have been if he had come to visit then, it scares me. I know that we wouldn't have started dating. As high school girls we were seen as off limits (at least we were then).
Looking back, I'm sure of the fact that I wasn't ready to meet him yet. I was too young, too naive, and had little experience with matters of the heart. I remember being impatient, and wondering when I was going to find somebody to love. But I don't think I could have fully appreciated the wonderfulness that is Mr. Bunny that April. I was 18 at the time and I met him right after turning 19, which may seem to make little difference, but that year had a big impact on me. I went off to college, had some silly dalliances with boys, and I learned a lot about myself. At 18, I was very immature, and I'm pretty sure I would have annoyed him.
Mushy as it sounds, I truly believe that love has a way of finding our hearts when we are ready for it (and in my case, when I least expected it).
Do you want to hear more of this story? I know the majority of you know me, therefore you know all about me and Mr. Bunny, so I don't know if you're interested. If you are, I could make it a multi-part serial, a smaller Elle Bunny version of
Black Heels and Tractor Wheels. Bonus points if someone could help me figure out what to name it. "Bunny Hops and Big Dreams"? "The Bluebonnet and the Bunny: A Love Story"? Discuss.
Have a great day!
Love,
Elle Bunny

New Moon Monday: A little bit of this, a little bit of that.

There's not much to report today. I'm thinking that this may be my last New Moon Monday for awhile-after this I will be doing Twilight posts more intermittently for awhile until we get closer to New Moon's premiere.
Here is a video taken by one of the extras on the set of The Runaways. Towards the end you can see Kristen rock out as Joan Jett.

Impressive, although I wish we could have heard her sing. I admire her for taking on this role so completely-she's learned how to play the guitar, and she's gotten a lot of crap about her hair the whole time. But I guess that is what being an actor is. She certainly looks the part; and she looks tall despite being teeny-tiny. One thing she doesn't look-pregnant. Check out this article from the Wall Street Journal on Harry Potter and Rival Teen Franchise (and the scary picture they had with it). It compares Twilight and my new obsession, Harry Potter, which is something I hate. But it is focusing on how the success of Twilight is forcing Harry Potter to focus more on the romance to ensure that the teenage girls will be satisfied. Apparently, now that Twilight was successful, they are finally taking teenage girls seriously as an audience that goes to see movies multiple times and taking into account that movies should be made for them. While this is true, I think they would be wise to remember that there were also lots of adult women (and men for that matter) that went to see Twilight multiple times. The same has been true for all of the Harry Potter movies and will surely be the case with the one coming out on Wednesday. But it's never a bad thing to bring romance onto the screen and I can't wait to see this movie. I think the only way they could make these movies do better at the box office is by bringing Cedric Diggory back from the dead. Interesting article, though.

Here's an awesome video of Bruno being interviewed about celebrities. Someone from the Twilight cast comes up. Hilarity ensues:

I need to see Bruno stat. Sacha Baron Cohen is my own personal brand of comedy heroin. Here are some pics of Rob in a suit on the Remember Me set in NYC. And here's Pierce Brosnan (who plays Rob's dad) looking dapper in a suit on set. Perfect casting. When I was seven, we went to California on vacation for Thanksgiving. We went to a restaurant called Alice's in Santa Monica and Pierce Brosnan was there. My mom was quite impressed. I didn't know who he was because, well, I was seven and he wasn't James Bond yet. But I digress; the point is, Pierce is a beautiful man, and I once ate a meal in the same room as that man. And now he's playing Rob's dad. This makes me happy (I realize that it also makes me pathetic).

According to E!'s Mark Malkin, Rob will be gracing the cover of Vanity Fair sometime in the near future. Can't wait for that one!
Don't forget to check out the New Moon panel at Comic Con on Thursday, July 23rd at 1:45 PM Pacific Time. It should be online and if last year's Twilight panel tells us anything it will be full of screaming girls. Rob and Kristen are rumored to be attending, although I won't believe it until I see them there. Have we forgotten this?

Based on last years panel I would have bet money that Rob would have given up his Van Morrison collection before attending this thing again. If he shows up, Summit better buy him a boat And if KStew attends, they should buy her an island, Carlisle-style (remember Isle Esme?). She's the one who has to deal with all the fan hate and pregnancy rumors.

Have a great New Moon Monday!

Love,
Elle Bunny

Emma Watson is Friday's Fun Fearless Female!

As I admitted yesterday, I'm late to the Harry Potter book phenomenon. But I've always loved the movies. And Emma Watson, aka Hermione, has always been my favorite. Something about that character has always reminded me of myself at that age. Anyway, I love Emma Watson. She is a good example of a child star who has grown up to be normal. In fact all of the Harry Potter kids are fairly down to earth compared with winners like Lindsay Lohan.
Just take a look at this interview she did with David Letterman:

So poised! And she totally owned David Letterman in that interview. If you didn't have a chance to watch, she talks about her plans to attend college in the states. She always has intelligent, witty things to say and you just can't help but like her.
Besides being level-headed, she's also quite beautiful and classy. She's a fave of Karl Lagerfield, and she always looks fashion forward without looking too trendy.

I love the pics of her from her recent photo shoot with Teen Vogue. Gorgeous!
Just look at these pictures from her with the cast at the recent rainy world premiere of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. The amount of awesome in this picture is killing me. I adore JK Rowling. And I love Emma's dress. Of course, right now she's getting a lot of attention for a wardrobe malfunction at the event. If you haven't seen the picture yet, here it is.Well, at least she's wearing underwear. This alone puts her heads and shoulders above most Hollywood starlets.
I can't wait for the next movie. I'm sure I won't be anywhere near starting that book in the series, but I always enjoy the movies anyway.
Let's celebrate Emma Watson, Friday's Fun Fearless Female.

Have a great day!

Elle Bunny

The dog days of summer

It is incredibly hot right now. In my neck of the woods we've had record-breaking temperatures 22 out of the last 26 days. Or something like that (I'm not a meteorologist). The heat brings out the cranky. And I know this doesn't just apply to me; everywhere I turn, there's somebody in a bad mood, whether it's on the phone at work, talking with someone in person, or just casually observing people in line at Subway. There has to be a solution to this epidemic. Here are some of my ideas:
1) Cute baby/animal/baby animal videos on YouTube. Here are two of my faves:

2) Ice Cream. If you're on a diet like me this can be a sore subject, but there's always the glorious Skinny Cow products.

3) Find things to laugh about. Even if they're not really that funny.

Today I laughed off and on for twenty minutes about something I overheard at work. Somebody got a caller who couldn't hear very well, and my coworker had to yell the letters of a word out so that the person on the phone could understand. This person works clear across the center from me, so I honestly have no idea who it was, but all of a sudden I hear someone yelling "No, P as in Papa, the Pope, or Potato." Makes me giggle right now just thinking about it (it might be one of those things you have to be there for. My coworker's delivery was pretty funny).

4) Find a new series and read it. I have finally started reading the Harry Potter books. I may be 10 years late to the party, but I'm finally there. I'm on the second book and enjoying every minute of it. I can't help but smile when I think about Hagrid.
So there are some ideas. If you have any suggestions of ways to get through the dog days of summer sanity intact please share them in the comments section. They are greatly appreciated.
Have a great day!

5 reasons you should go see Public Enemies

Mr. Bunny and I saw Public Enemies on Monday. I really loved it. It's one of those movies that sticks with you. I've heard that some of the critics didn't like it that much, but I don't know what's wrong with them. Did they see the same movie as me?
The move was made of awesome. A total shoot-em-up, but there is a lot there under the surface. I cried twice (but most people probably wouldn't--I'm a sap). Anyway, here are 5 reasons to see the movie:
1) Johnny Depp. I'm certainly not the first person to say it, but Johnny is a breathtakingly beautiful man. And thank goodness. This is what the real John Dillinger looked like. I prefer the Hollywood version any day. Beyond the looks, though, he is so good in this. Watching his face during one of the final scenes (when he watches Manhattan Melodrama) is so incredibly heartbreaking. He brings humanity to a character who, in reality, was a murderer. In my opinion, this is something only the best actors can really pull off (ex: James Gandolfini).
2) Marion Cotillard. She gives a sensational performance as Billie Frechette, the love of John Dillinger's life. Their relationship is very believable onscreen and her performance is the one that drove me to tears twice. From what I understand, this is one of her first performances in English and I was quite impressed. And she is one of the few women beautiful enough to make you look away from Johnny when she's onscreen.
3) The supporting cast. Christian Bale is really great in this movie, and whatever your feelings might be on him as a person, you have to admit that he is one of the best actors of our generation (go see American Psycho immediately if you disagree with me). He does a great southern accent, and he looks good in the suits.Emilie de Ravin also has a minor role in this movie (she plays a hostage in one the Dillinger bank heists). In case you don't recognize the name, that's Claire from "Lost" and Ally from Remember Me. Lucky girl.
But the best supporting actor by a mile was Billy Crudup. Now I dislike him way more than Christian Bale based on what I know of his personal life (he left Mary Louise Parker when she was pregnant for Claire Danes; Ew!) but he is insanely talented and gives and incredible performance in this movie. He plays J. Edgar Hoover, a hard role to pull off, but he did it with style. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets nominated for an Oscar.
4) The history. After watching this movie, I felt the need to research every aspect of it. Some of it just seemed impossible to believe. But there are only minor changes based on what I've read (and the minor changes that they made added to the story). My conclusion-all of the men involved were incredibly complicated, interesting characters with giant egos. Dillinger was able to justify stealing money from banks but wouldn't take the money from a "little man" making a withdrawal. Melvin Purvis (Christian Bale's character) seemed to have a kind of awed fascination with Dillinger, and at the same time seemed intimidated by both Hoover and Dillinger. In the end, he is forced into the middle man role, constantly dealing with bureaucracy making it more difficult to do his job at the same time that they pressured him to get the job done. Perhaps the most insane is J. Edgar Hoover, although they didn't necessarily know the extent of it back then. He was obsessed with persecuting individuals like John Dillinger. It has been reported by numerous sources that he was homosexual, and possibly even a crossdresser. I think I might be reading more on each of these men as they are all fascinating. If you would like to read more on the topic of John Dillinger, check out his FBI page.
5) The fashion. The suits are beautiful and reflect each character so perfectly. They are perfectly tailored. Marion's wardrobe is also beautiful. The costume designer deserves an Oscar as well.
Go check out the movie! It's great!
