The dog days of summer

It is incredibly hot right now. In my neck of the woods we've had record-breaking temperatures 22 out of the last 26 days. Or something like that (I'm not a meteorologist). The heat brings out the cranky. And I know this doesn't just apply to me; everywhere I turn, there's somebody in a bad mood, whether it's on the phone at work, talking with someone in person, or just casually observing people in line at Subway. There has to be a solution to this epidemic. Here are some of my ideas:
1) Cute baby/animal/baby animal videos on YouTube. Here are two of my faves:

2) Ice Cream. If you're on a diet like me this can be a sore subject, but there's always the glorious Skinny Cow products.

3) Find things to laugh about. Even if they're not really that funny.

Today I laughed off and on for twenty minutes about something I overheard at work. Somebody got a caller who couldn't hear very well, and my coworker had to yell the letters of a word out so that the person on the phone could understand. This person works clear across the center from me, so I honestly have no idea who it was, but all of a sudden I hear someone yelling "No, P as in Papa, the Pope, or Potato." Makes me giggle right now just thinking about it (it might be one of those things you have to be there for. My coworker's delivery was pretty funny).

4) Find a new series and read it. I have finally started reading the Harry Potter books. I may be 10 years late to the party, but I'm finally there. I'm on the second book and enjoying every minute of it. I can't help but smile when I think about Hagrid.
So there are some ideas. If you have any suggestions of ways to get through the dog days of summer sanity intact please share them in the comments section. They are greatly appreciated.
Have a great day!

Strut the Wonder Cat

I have a really incredible cat. Sometimes he meows so loud, I wouldn't be surprised if they could hear him in the next county. He also is able to leap up onto our mantle and pace back and forth on it without knocking anything over. Now I know that these are all normal cat things. But trust me, he's special.
The main reason that Strut is so special is that he honestly believes in his heart of hearts that he is a dog. It's written all over his face. He's constantly smiling, always congenial. He follows us around, always nipping at our heels. He has a voracious appetite and he runs around the house. He loves a belly rub and I can literally stretch his legs out in all directions and he doesn't get mad. He sleeps at the foot of our bed. He's playful and funny. He comes into the room when you whistle for him. Lately, we've been watching the first season of 30 Rock on Netflix and he always lays on the top of the back of the couch and watches with us. He told me his favorite character is Kenneth. I think he identifies with him. They are both always so eager to please.
Which is why I wasn't surprised that he didn't belly-ache when Meow-Meow (my mom) gave him this collar. He wore it with pride.
So basically he's the perfect combination of a dog and a cat. He's sweet and eager to please, but he isn't hard to take care of. Just put bowls of food and water out and give him a litter box and he's good to go. I love Strut with every fiber of my being. I'm looking into having him cloned.
Have a great day!

Youtubesday: Play him off, keyboard cat!!!

If you haven't seen this yet, then let me introduce you to my friend Keyboard Cat.

Charming fellow, isn't he? This song has been in my dreams several nights of the last few weeks.

It also haunts many an episode of Golden Girls ever since I saw this video.

Bobby Bones even made it to his website (who knew?). This=epic fail.

Did you know that Chuck Norris destroyed the periodic table because he can only recognize the element of surprise? (that's all I've got).

Sometimes I wish Keyboard Cat was around to play me off when I trip and fall trying to get up from my desk at work. Or yesterday, after a long day at work, when I went to a cake tasting with my sister and her fiance and my mom. We were talking about cake design and I said that they should use a mammogram when I really meant Monogram. In my head, I hear the Keyboard Cat music.

One final thought: I think Keyboard Cat and Spaghetti Cat should get married and have keyboard-playing, spaghetti-eating kittens. Don't you agree?

Have a great day!

Elle Bunny

I'm boycotting April Fools Day

I'm not kidding. Does anybody else think that April Fool's Day is just an excuse for Jackasses to act like Jackasses? Maybe I'm taking it too seriously, but I'm getting kind of annoyed. The Lex has turned into LexiKalebCon for the day. I went to YouTube and all the videos are upside down. I've come across the following few stories:
All of these are bogus. Maybe I need to get a sense of humor. Where do I buy one of those? Or maybe these jokes are only funny to the people playing them. This is what I've been thinking in my head all day:
Ah, The Smiths. Morrissey. That's a sense of humor I can respect. What's funnier than Girlfriend in a Coma?
Either way, the only reason I enjoy April Fool's Day is it is the day that the universe smiled on my family and brought this treasure into the world:Photobucket

Abby has been a member of our family since I was in the 8th grade. When we got her she was 4 months old and we estimated that it meant she was born in early April. So we said she was born on April Fool's Day.

But Abby is nobody's fool. She is the Queen and we are her subjects (as is the case with most cats). But she is also so sweet and loving. We are so lucky to have her as a part of our family.Photobucket

Happy 11th Birthday Abby!
Enjoy your Vanilla Pudding!
Have a great day everyone! I hope no one plays a stupid prank on you.

LiveJournal Questions: Day 3: Introducing...Strut!

If you could ask your pet any question (and they could answer you), what would it be? Photobucket

How are you so adorable?
Photobucket
Have you ever thought about becoming a model? Because you are so much cuter than Tyson Beckford.
Photobucket
What is it like to sleep so much? Photobucket
Do you want to go fishing with your Paw-Paw?Photobucket
How is it possible you have already perfected your "Bitch, please" face when you are only one year old?
Photobucket
No, really, how many hours a day do you sleep? And could we trade places for a day? because your life seems pretty sweet.
I'm so glad we found you!
Love,
Elle Bunny
aka Meowmy
(and yes, I know all the puns with the names are ridiculous, but it's what we do in my family. Don't judge)

Smokey the Koala Bear

Here is what the Herald Sun had to say about Sam the Koala.

SAM became the most famous koala in the world when firefighter David Tree stopped to give her a drink amid the devastation.

Carer Jenny Shaw said she suffered burns on her paws and was in a lot of pain, but was on the road to recovery. She was put on an IV drip and is on antibiotics and pain relief treatment. "She is lovely - very docile - and she has already got an admirer. A male koala keeps putting his arms around her," Ms Shaw said. "She will need regular attention and it will be a long road to recovery, but she should be able to be released back into the wild in about five months."
I don't think it gets any cuter than a firefighter rescuing a koala.

I cry every time I watch that video. I'm a sucker for koalas.

I'm bummed for the people in Australia. I'm sending good thoughts and prayers their way!

Have a great day everyone, and if you aren't just think of Sam and David. If that doesn't make you feel better, I don't know what will.

Love,

Elle Bunny aka Kimmy Koala

P.S. Unfortunately I made a mistake and deleted my first Wordless Wednesday post and Spaghetti Cat-Friday's Fun Fearless Feline post. Hopefully I will redo these soon for my own sanity. Sorry if you wanted to look at them!

10 Reasons I'm Excited to Be Buying a House

1) If I really wanted to, I could put 10 pink flamingos in my front yard. Who's going to stop me?
2) No stairs. I think this is the part I'm most excited about, since at the present time I live in a third floor apartment. My thighs are growing at the thought of living in a one story house.
3) We have a backyard. With trees. This is exciting for both of us, because we look forward to entertaining friends and gardening. This is exciting for Mr. Bunny because he can play bocce ball and washers and horseshoes, and barbeque. For me, a backyard equals ample room to hula hoop and cartwheel.
4) Two bathrooms. This means when the two of us get home after being in the car for an hour with large drinks, we won't have to pretend to be polite and the let the other person go first. Now we can just fight for who gets to go to the closer bathroom. 5) I think sometimes I might just go sit in one of the spare bedrooms and stare at the wall for 30 minutes.
6) Mr Bunny will have a man room where he will store all his video games-the Wii, the XBox, you name it, it's in there.
This is awesome because it means we will have a real grown up living room. In this room we can watch movies and Lost together. But when Mr. Bunny wants to play Zelda, he can go to his man room and leave me to my Beverly Hills, 90210 and Real Housewives debauchery.
7) I can has new kittehs?
8) I'd venture a guess that if I stand in the front bedroom and hollered, Mr. Bunny wouldn't be able to hear me in the kitchen. I'm only guessing, but that is pretty awesome.
9) Rain, Sleet, Snow, Ice, Mud and Muck will not matter because I will have a freaking garage. This is perhaps the most life changing development because I'm consistently late everywhere and hate getting into a car affected by the elements-it only makes me later than I already was. I'm also really excited to not have all of my neighbors see me walk out in my pajamas everytime I leave something in my car.
10) I will be able to fully enjoy listening to music and dancing around. I will have more area to do so and won't have to feel like I'm disturbing the peace-no longer will I be on the third floor flanked by neighbors to the sides and below. It is an amazing sense of freedom.
Thanks for reading my list of reasons I'm excited about buying a house-I need to focus on this because right now I'm getting overwhelmed by the paperwork and the redtape of it all.
But it's all worth it because I'm getting a House!
Have a great day!

Plato's Heir Apparent?

This cracked me up; I had to share.

I'm so amused by this child in his post-dental appointment haze. There is something about kids and/or potheads. Oftentimes, the questions they ask are ones we should be asking ourselves everyday. Instead of thinking about the big picture, we get distracted by the little day to day struggles of life. But after I finished watching the video, I couldn't help looking around my office and thinking "Is this going to be forever?" If it is, I might need some of those drugs that David is on.
Have a great day!

Knox and Vivienne Jolie-Pitt are Friday's Fun Fearless Twins!

They're ALIVE!!
I love me some babies, and they don't get much cuter than these two little ducks. People have been wondering where they were-the babies have been in hiding. Well, this week the twin messiahs graced us with an appearance in Tokyo along with the rest of the family. I'm so glad they came out for public viewing because they are so freaking adorable. Angie and Brad, take notes--you shouldn't be keeping these two under wraps. People like you more when you have your cute and cuddly babies around. They don't like you as much when you snub Ryan Seacrest on the red carpet,
or when you're giving Anne Hathaway a bitchface that would stop Anna Wintour in her tracks. Keep the kids around you all the time and you might even win matching Academy Awards. But I have a feeling that if you do bring an Oscar home, Maddox may insist on using it as one of his army men, and Shiloh may throw a fit if you won't let her dress it up like one of her baby dolls.
Everyone have a great weekend!

Elle Bunny

YouTube: How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.

I'm sure that if Elizabeth Barrett Browning had been lucky enough to have access to YouTube back in her day, that is how the poem would have started. Don't you just love YouTube? Some of my favorite videos recently have been the literal 80's videos. If you haven't seen them already, check out this video for "Take on Me" and you'll see what I mean.

That's almost as good as this interpretation.

Here's the literal version of "Head Over Heels," by Tears for Fears, which is one of the most awesome videos from the 80s. I love the monkey and the librarian's glasses are fierce.

I also thought I would throw in this jewel-it doesn't sound like it was done by the same people, but I will always seize an opportunity to Rick Roll you!

I also took a trip down memory lane today and watched the "Shoes" video. I adore Kelly.

My friend Meredith had an awesome Halloween party this year. She dressed up as Minnie Mouse, I dressed up as a Pirate Wench (Mr. Bunny was a Pirate) and Meredith's co worker's boyfriend came dressed as Kelly. Here is a picture of us with Kelly/Gabe.

Too funny.
So if you are wondering

Where's Rob?

you aren't the only one. He's hard to keep up with these days since he's on the Hot Topic tour. Yesterday he was in Dallas, but unfortunately I was stuck at work. I'm glad to here that no noses were broken at this signing. Well played, Dallas. Thanks for representing Texas well (hopefully).

Here is an awesome interview that Rob did while he was in Dallas. The guy who interviewed him seems so nice.

Rob cracks me up. The blue roof section of Dallas. LOL.

In other Dallas news, Kidd Kraddick and his crew almost got arrested when they had Sexy Jack, the resident British guy, walk around and pretend to be Rob Pattinson. Hilarity ensued! Check out the coverage here:

kiddlive.com

I have recently joined a group on livejournal called hothobolove. It is dedicated to the loveliness that is Rob Pattinson and Tom Sturridge. Members of the group are called Plaids. The club is really too funny. Here is a YouTube Video made by two Plaids impersonating Tom Stu and RPattz. Pretty dead on in my opinion.

It is amazing how many people are dedicated to the love between these BFFs. One girl came to the San Francisco signing wearing a shirt with two hearts on her boobs that said Tom Stu Love U. She was obviously a Plaid. My SanFran RPattz Experience (pics included)

These pictures recently came out of Rob with costar Anna Kendrick (AKA Jessica), Nikki Reed (AKA Rosalie) and some guy. The only one of interest in my opinion is this one:

Gene Simmons, anyone? Also, all I can think about is how much the Jessica in the books would enjoy this.

Finally, check this out!

Twilight Soundtrack Takes #1 Billboard Spot

So cool. The movie hasn't event come out yet.

Only 8.5 more days. BTW, I officially got 11/21 off, as did my coworker. It is now officially Twilight Day.
