My Favorite Things Monday: My Current Obsession: SKINS

I'm so obsessed with this show.

It's about British kids growing up in Bristol. They are obviously very into partying. One of them (Sid) lusts after another member of the group (Michelle, who just so happens to be his best friend's girlfriend), while yet another member of the group lusts after them and then feels dejected and tries to commit suicide (that would be Cassie, who also happens to be bulimic.) His best friend Tony is like an evil Zack Morris-Chuck Bass hybrid. And I love Chris, who is in love with his psychology teacher. They all have crazy home lives. Each episode focuses on a character from the group.
Basically, it's like Beverly Hills, 90210/The O.C-if all the kids were British, and by definition, more interesting. I love it.

Apparently, in Season 3, all the characters you fall in love with leave and they focus on Tony's younger sister Effy. To which I say, Boo, Chicken, because I love these kids, but, oh well. Right now I'm just enjoying the fact that I'm only 2/3 of the way through the first season.

(If you happen to live in England and stumbled across this blog, just ignore me. I'm a new convert and I know nothing).
Fun Cast Facts:

Tony is the boy from About a Boy all grown up. He's cute. And plays a lovable asshole. With a ridiculous comforter.
Dev Patel, of Slumdog Millionaire fame, plays a character named Anwar. He's lovable as well (but not really an asshole. I mean, he has his asshole moments, but overall, he's a nice guy).
So you should definitely check this show out if you haven't already (apparently it is playing on TV in America, but I haven't come across it. I heard about it from fans of Dev Patel and ordered it on Netflix). My favorite episode is "Maxxie & Anwar" in which they visit Russia on a field trip. Hilarity ensues.
Have a great day!

Oscar, Robscah!

I'd like to thank the Academy for these great videos and this great photo-op.

*Robert Pattinson on the Oscars compared to Twilight premieres: "It's more organized. At Twilight premieres, you think you're going to die."-Entertainment Weekly
I wish I could expresss my gratitude in greater detail, but after that, I'm not sure I can form a coherent sentence.
The rest of the show was nice too, but I'm not ready to talk about all that just yet.

For today, I just want to focus on this.

I'm a happy girl.

My Favorite Things Monday: YouTube Video

This video is just epic. Anytime you get vampires and a dance number in the same video, I will be a happy girl. This video is pretty amazing for many reasons:

1) The cafeteria seriously looks exactly like the cafeteria in the movie. I honestly wonder if they went to the same school to film it.

2) The acting was on par with that seen it the movie.

3) So many of the actors looked so much like the actors in the real movie (especially Jasper-look-alike, Rosalie-look-alike and Bella-look-alike).

4) These kids can really dance.

5) This video seems to have had a bigger budget than Twilight. Just saying.

It's awesome. I had to share. Even if you aren't a huge Twilighter, I think you will enjoy this video so check it out!

My Favorite Things Monday: Website and YouTube Videos

So a couple of weeks ago my sister's fiance Cam sent me the link to an incredible website. It has become one of my favorite work-time diversions. If you have not been to Sporcle.com yet, I encourage you to go. It's hours of fun. I think this is what they should give to the old people in the nursing homes to keep their minds young and non-dimensia ridden. It's basically a site with tons of timed quizzes on everything from geography to music to sports to...yeah, everything. I suck and most of the time have to use Wiki, but it always proves to me how efficient my Wiki usage is. I wish somebody would make a quiz about types of cancer--I would kick that quizzes ass! Anywho, so much fun!
So did anyone watch the Grammy's last night? I watched it with my family, and although I liked a lot of the winners and they can be found on my iPod, I thought it was pretty boring.
My Highlights-Adele's acceptance speech; The Four Tops Tribute; Chris Martin accepting the Best Rock award and saying "We’re like limestone — softer, but just as charming"; Coldplay's performance; Radiohead's performance; Justin Timberlake in all of his performances; and Paul McCartney's performance with Dave Grohl.
Speaking of which, this video made me giggle:

I specifically pointed out that stuffed animal to Mr Bunny, as I, too, thought it was rather odd. But as soon as I did, they stopped showing it and the performance was over. I was left thinking it was a hallucination. But I'm not clever enough to have connected the dots--I am sure now that Paul McCartney is Team Jacob all the way.

Speaking of Team Failcob, I'm going through major RPattz withdrawals. Now I should be doing better by now, because he was photographed out on the town in London with Tom Stud at a Vogue party (look at his hair; it looks really bad but it's getting longer!) and out the next night partying with women wearing fur coats and looking devious with Tom Stud in the candy aisle. And I'm amused. These pictures make me smile. But it doesn't matter. I feel disconnected; I need to hear him speak. Thank God for YouTube. Here are a few of my favorite Rob videos--it's okay if you don't watch them, their really just here so I can find them easily and watch them when I'm feeling in need of some Rob (but you really should watch them...he's so endearing).

Here he is wishing his dog Patty Happy Valentine's Day.

How cute is that? By the way, this is what his dog Patty looks like.Rob never ceases to make me giggle.

Here is Rob answering questions backstage at Ellen.

There are no words. The following are two Best Rob Moments videos. They amuse me.

Thanks for indulging my Robsesssion.

Have a great day and check out Sporcle!

My Favorite Things Monday: Blog

I love the Sartorialist . If you haven't heard of the Sartorialist, here is what Wiki has to say about it. "The Sartorialist" is a fashion blog by Scott Schuman in New York.[1] After leaving a fashion sales position to take care of his daughter in 2005, he began carrying a digital camera around on the streets of New York City, taking pictures of people who had dressed in some way that caught his eye, and then posting them to his blog, sometimes with comments about what he finds.[1]
He describes his philosophy as trying to echo how fashion designers looked at what they saw on the street:
“I thought I could shoot people on the street the way designers looked at people, and get and give inspiration to lots of people in the process. My only strategy when I began The Sartorialist was to try and shoot style in a way that I knew most designers hunted for inspiration.[2]
Scott Schuman
Schuman has taken photos in different locations besides New York, often
Paris and Milan when he has gone there for fashion shows. His subjects range from fashion celebrities like Karl Lagerfeld to unidentified regular people. He has found uniforms
[3] and dirty work clothes[4] as well as those trying to display their style. He says his inspiration was a picture of a man on an empty street taken by German photographer August Sander.[5]
Schuman began getting other work from serious fashion publications. Condé Nast tapped him to do something similar during Fashion Week in Paris for its style.com website.[1] He also regularly works events for Saks Fifth Avenue, and says French Vogue editor Carine Roitfeld has also talked to him about doing something for her magazine.[1]

So the only way that I know how to explain how much I love this blog is to say that it is the first blog I check when I get to work in the morning. I usually check it before I check my email. It's awesome and as an aspiring photographer (aka wannabe) I'm in awe of his ability to capture the beauty in so many different subjects. He has a natural gift. Here are some of my favorite photos he has taken, which can all be found at The Sartorialist.

There are no words that can do justice to the beauty of these photos, so on that note, I will say goodbye and beg you to take one look at this website--trust me, you'll get hooked.
Have a great day!

My Favorite Things Monday: Website

Today I will highlight a website that has brought me endless hours of entertainment. Jezebel is such an awesome site. There are several things that make Jezebel so great-the first being an intelligent staff who post about interesting and funny things. But the thing that really makes Jezebel work is the comments. I can guarantee you that you will never click on a post there and have the first five comments read "First!". This is a good thing, especially when many of the sites I read (which admittedly, are gossip blogs, so I should expect it) have readers who compete for the dunce cap for ultimate in inane Internet behavior. Jezebel readers (for the most part) are intelligent, opinionated, fun women (there are a couple of men) with a razor sharp wit and biting sense of humor. Everyday, the Jezebel team acknowledges the best comment of the day and calls out the worst comment of the day.
For example, in response to the post
here are the best comments of the day and Jezebel's response to them.
Too funny. You can read my thoughts on Drew's 'Do here.
So I guess what I'm saying is, you should check out Jezebel if you haven't already.
Have a great day!

Does his being half naked bother you?

Since it's My Favorite Things Monday, I thought I would talk about the plethora of Jacob related media that has come about lately. Here is a video of Taylor showing off his muscles.
Way to go Taylor! I'm still not sure how you are going to get past the whole height thing, but I'm proud of you for working so hard! Even though you're kind of annoying and your voice grates on my last nerve (especially when he says "It's really just a scary story" to Bella on the beach),I thought you did a really good job in Twilight and I hope you can do well in New Moon. Here are my only words of advice: I know you are really proud that you beat out the evil Michael Copon (whose name reminds me of Grey Poupon which makes me think of Poop-on, which makes me giggle because I am apparently 6 years old). Please don't get a big head. You kind of bordered on jack-ass in that clip. It's not becoming. No one will like you. At this point, the only reason I do like you is the fact that you suck less than Michael Poop-on. But you will always be our favorite tool, Failcob. Here is my favorite celebratory video, courtesy of the Twicurls.

If you didn't get it, the name of this blog is in reference to Jacob's line in Eclipse.Everyone have a great day!

My Favorite Things Monday: Movie

If you haven't seen The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button go see it immediately.

It is a magical movie that will make you laugh and cry. It reminds me a little bit of Forrest Gump. Brad Pitt is amazing, as is Cate Blanchett.
That is all for now. Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and is having a Happy New Year so far!

My Favorite Things Monday: Music and Blog

If I were a young British girl singer, I would be Lily Allen. I would wish that I was the Welsh girl Duffy, and I would thank the Lord that I wasn't Amy Winehouse. But I would be Lily Allen. Her songs are the best-they sound happy from the outset, but when you listen to the lyrics they are really melancholy and talk about many of the things we deal with as young women- low self confidence, stupid boys, wishing we were someone else. Her new album "It's Not Me, It's You" comes out in February and I love the first single "The Fear".

Isn't the video awesome? So, in spite of the fact that she is often in the tabloids and makes a lot of mistakes, I love Lily Allen. Here are some of my other favorite Lily Allen videos/moments:

I love this song and video. The song is called LDN, which is text-speak for London.

That's Lily's fantastic cover of Brit-Brit's song "Womanizer". It's made of awesome.

So another one of my obsessions, The Pioneer Woman - Ree Drummond, is something you can blame my sister for. She introduced me to it and I've been hooked ever since. Which is kind of funny, because I don't think I'm necessarily the target audience, but Ree aka the Pioneer Woman is easy for anyone to relate to. My favorite is when she blogs about falling in love with her husband, aka Marlboro Man. That is called Black Heels to Tractor Wheels: A Love Story. Basically, Ree grew up living off of a golf course, she went to school in LA, and ended up falling in love with someone when she least expected it. So now she lives on a ranch with him and their five kids, and despite the fact that she misses sushi and nights out on the town with her friends, she is very happy. She has an interest in photography and takes beautiful pictures of life on the ranch. She is also full of hilarious stories about crazy things like her lap dance with Gary Coleman and the time she dropped her panties in a coffin. I love her. If you haven't read her blog, you should check it out.

Have a great day!

My Favorite Things Monday: Music

Okay, lately I have been playing the same songs over and over again, kind of like a broken record. I think it is starting to drive Mr. Bunny nuts. But I really do love these songs:
"Last Christmas" by Jimmy Eat World.

My favorite cover of this song, which is definitely in my top 5 list of favorite Christmas songs. So good. This song, particularly the original Wham version, has always brought to mind cartwheeling elves for me. I'm not sure why, but it does, and it makes me smile.

I also thoroughly enjoy this YouTube fan-made video because it features a Gingerbread Man and a bottle of Jack Daniels. That sounds like Christmas to me!
"Our Song" by Taylor Swift.

I have a love/hate relationship with this song. Right now I'm in love with it, despite the fact that it sometimes annoys the shit out of me. It's very sweet and I like to sing it really loud and off-key whilst speeding down the road.

The video is really cute, too.

"Strawberry Swing" by Coldplay.

This song is my obsession. This is the one that I keep playing over and over and over. It makes me think of childhood and brings very vivid visions to mind, none of which actually have to do with what he is singing about. In fact, I hesitated before looking up the lyrics to this one because I didn't want it to ruin the song for me--it didn't. It is still sweet and endearing. The music is just so beautiful. When I'm alone in my car, I will rewind certain parts of the song over and over because I think that's the best part, then I move forward and decide that is the best. I love Coldplay. There music makes my soul happy.

This is a video of them playing it live at Brixton Academy. It's awesome.
Have a great Monday everyone!
And remember to check out all the awesome music!

A Sad Day for Mankind...Sooners rejoice

I don't mean to be a sore loser, but this sucks. Big Time. And the reason that it sucks so bad is that we didn't lose. We won 45-35 against the Sooners. Oh, and BTW, Sooners is just a fancy way of saying land-stealers. Nice thing to use as your school mascot, no? Appropriate for Oklahoma, though. Here is another Longhorn sharing his thoughts via the YouTube.

Thank you! MTE!

Anyway, in other news, I had a wonderful Thanksgiving break. It was too short, as always, but I enjoyed it thoroughly. I love cornbread dressing. Yum.

And I have also decided that from now on, I will be sharing something/s that I enjoy on Mondays. This could be a book, television show, movie, blog, YouTube Channel, or music. Or all of the above. It will be called My Favorite Things Mondays. We'll get things started today.

My Favorite Things:

BooksRight now I am reading Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, which was recommended to me by my friend Laura, and my other friend Bella Swan. You might have heard of her. It is about a girl named Elizabeth Bennett (her family calls her Lizzy) who is headstrong and fun. Her Dad loves her will and wit, while her mom is overly concerned with getting her and the rest of her sisters married off. Steph Meyer always talks about how Edward is partially based on Mr. Darcy, who so far, is kind of an ass in this book. I am thinking he might be the main love interest though. All the other guys are kind of boring. It is awesome, and after I get done reading it, I plan to watch the Kiera Knightly movie which I have also heard is made of awesome.I just started reading another book called An Abundance of Katherines by John Green. It is so funny and very well written. It is about a guy named Colin Singleton who was a child prodigy. He has just graduated from high school and his girlfriend dumped him on the same day. He has dated 19 girls in his lifetime--all of them named Katherine (not Kat or Katy or Catherine; just Katherine); and all of them have dumped him. He goes on a road trip with his friend Hassan. It is so funny, I have found myself laughing out loud several times. If you are interested, pick it up at Barnes and Noble, it's only $3.99 and highly entertaining.

MovieMy husband and I stayed up late on Saturday night and were flipping through the channels and came upon "Candy" a movie starring Heath Ledger and Abbie Cornish. It is a very painful story about heroin addiction. It is a really beautiful and haunting movie. Heath was so talented, it breaks my heart every time I watch one of his movies. What a loss. Abbie was also really good. I will have to rent "Stoploss."

MusicRay LaMontagne's Gossip in the Grain is just so amazing. I just bought the full cd and I adore him. His voice has so much soul. He sounds like he came straight out of the 1970's and he looks like it, too. He's all about the music, and very talented. If you haven't heard him, listen and learn.

Television

The Tyra Banks Show

Because it is ridiculous. Because the moments between Tyra and Rob exceeded my expectations. It was awesomely bad.

Blog

What Claudia Wore is amazing. This girl goes through the BSC books and discusses what Claudia and all the other character's wore. She also sometimes goes off on random fashion tangents. I enjoy every bit of it.

YouTube

Recently, I have been thoroughly enjoying the YouTube stylings of nikmarie64. She does hilarious song parodies about Twilight related goodness. She also plays the part of Rob in the Hot Hobo Love video. She is too funny. Here is one of my favorite Nik videos:

I hope you enjoy at least one of the things I recommended! Maybe they will help to ease our pain as we question why the BCS sucks so bad.

Have a great day!

Elle Bunny
