I have house fever!

So Mr Bunny and I live with our adorable cat Scout in a beautiful apartment. We are so lucky. We searched for days to find a place suitable for us in our first years of marriage, but it was Mr. Bunny who finally found it on his own-he just happened to drop by one day. It had been one of the complexes we had driven by on our way home after hours of going through apartments in the surrounding area. So he happened in one day and they had more bang for your buck than any of the other places we had looked at. Our apartment is on the third floor, we never hear any of our neighbors and on top of that we have a huge wraparound porch which overlooks the Balcones Nature Preserve. We have a wonderful open floor plan that allows me to cook and clean my kitchen while watching the television in my living room and/or looking out our huge picture window and seeing all the beautiful trees. Upon our request, before we moved in, they painted an accent wall in our dining room the exact color of my Fiestaware that I had registered for and we use most frequently, which is a beautiful Cinnebar. We never have trouble finding a parking space and if we have an issue that needs to be looked at by maintenance, it is taken care of that day. They have a great gym, great pools, and they are even open late enough that if a package gets delivered to the office I can pick it up after work. In the last few months, the only complaint we had about our apartment complex--that the gates were never closed--was fixed and they have been working ever since. We are very lucky to live where we do.
But lately I have developed house fever. It is bad. I think it started when I couldn't fit everything in my kitchen cabinets. We have a relatively large kitchen for an apartment, but we also have a lot of appliances and dishes (thanks to all of our wonderful friends and family who gave us such awesome wedding gifts). And don't get me wrong, I'd rather have that stuff and know that I will have room to spread it out later, but it is starting to drive me nuts that every time I put up a pot I have to move 15 pots and pans. We've been planning and saving for awhile, thinking that we would hopefully be able to move out into a house in 2009. We signed a second year lease in March so we will have to be here for at least another 8 months--and I should really enjoy this time, because our apartment is relatively inexpensive and we have very little responsibility. But I want a house so bad that it is now officially my obsession. I spend my free time at work looking at houses online. I watch HGTV like it is going out of style. And today, for the first time, even though it is pretty much pointless, The Bunnies are going to look at a house. We actually called a realtor and set up an appointment to go look at it. I don't have any good reason for it and I know the guy is probably going to be annoyed when he finds out that we aren't planning on buying a house for another 8 months, but I really like this house. It is cute and has good trees. Here is a picture of it and underneath is a link to a page about ithttp://www.austintexashomes.com/our_listings.htm#flora_vista_loop
If you want to join me in my obsession, please feel free to go to my favorite home search website:
It is hours of fun!Just pray that I don't fall in love with this house. For the last 6 months or so, whenever we look at a house online or pick up a flier and it doesn't quite fit our ideal, I say "it's not right because it's not our house. Our house won't be there until February 2009." Hopefully that will still be the case this afternoon.
Have a great day!
Elle Bunny
